Morton’s Football Vault

Policies & customer information.

Clear information about purchases, returns, authenticity, delivery, selling shirts to us and specialist restoration.

Please read before ordering

Clear, straightforward and fair.

These policies explain how we handle orders, customer enquiries and restoration work. The terms that apply to an order are those in force when the order is placed.

Your statutory rights are not affected. Nothing here excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

01

Terms & conditions of sale

Products, descriptions and condition

We make reasonable efforts to describe and photograph each item accurately. Football shirts may be pre-owned or vintage and can show age, wear, repairs, fading or other characteristics. We aim to identify material flaws and relevant alterations in the listing. Please read the full description and review the photographs before ordering, and contact us if you need further information.

Prices, payment and order acceptance

Prices are shown in pounds sterling. The total payable, including any delivery charge, is shown during checkout before you submit payment. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. An order confirmation or payment receipt will be sent electronically where the relevant service supports it.

We may correct genuine errors in prices, descriptions or listings. If an error materially affects an order, we will contact you and, where appropriate, cancel the affected order and refund the amount paid rather than silently changing the agreed price.

Stock and availability

Items may be offered through more than one sales channel. We check availability during checkout, but an item may occasionally sell elsewhere before every listing has updated. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will cancel the affected order and refund the payment for it.

Delivery and contract information

Delivery arrangements and charges are displayed before payment. These policies are available online for customers to save or print. If we need to contact you about an order, we will use the contact details supplied at checkout.

Law and consumer rights

These terms are intended to operate alongside applicable UK law. Nothing in them removes your statutory rights, including rights relating to goods that are faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality.

02

Returns, cancellations & refunds

Change-of-mind returns for online purchases

For most goods purchased online, you can notify us that you wish to cancel within 14 days after the day you receive the goods. You then generally have a further 14 days to return them. To cancel, email steven@mortonsfootballvault.co.uk with your order details and a clear statement that you wish to cancel.

You are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods when cancelling for a change of mind, unless we have agreed otherwise or the law requires us to cover it. We will refund the standard outbound delivery charge where required by law. We may make a lawful deduction if handling goes beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish the goods’ nature, characteristics and fit.

To exercise a cancellation right, you can use this wording in an email: “I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the following goods: [item/order number]. Ordered on/received on: [date]. Name: [name]. Address: [address].” You do not have to use this exact wording.

Faulty, counterfeit or not-as-described goods

Your statutory rights apply if goods are faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or otherwise do not conform to the contract. Contact us promptly with the order details and a description of the issue. If you suspect a shirt is counterfeit or materially not as described, please contact us before washing, altering, restoring or otherwise modifying it so we can investigate. This request does not reduce your statutory rights.

Where we are responsible for a problem, we will deal with it in accordance with applicable law and cover reasonable return costs where required. Signs of age or wear that were clearly and accurately described in a pre-owned or vintage listing are not automatically faults, but statutory rights still apply.

Refund timing

Where a statutory cancellation applies, refunds will be made without undue delay and within the applicable legal deadline. For a change-of-mind cancellation, this is generally within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or receiving evidence that they have been sent back, whichever happens first. Refunds are normally made using the original payment method unless we agree otherwise.

03

Authenticity

We inspect and assess football shirts before listing them and do not knowingly offer counterfeit shirts for sale. Authentication can involve examining labels, product codes, construction, badges, sponsors, namesets and other details; no single feature should be treated as conclusive in isolation.

We aim to describe relevant alterations, defects and signs of age accurately. If you have an authenticity concern, contact us before modifying the shirt so we can review the issue. Your legal rights are not limited by this process.

04

Shipping & delivery

Retail orders

  • Delivery is currently available to UK addresses only.
  • Our usual dispatch target is within 2 working days of the order being accepted and paid for.
  • We use Royal Mail or Evri, selected according to the order. Tracking is supplied where available.
  • Current checkout delivery charges are £2.95 for a one-item order or £3.80 for an order containing multiple items when the item subtotal is £50 or less. Delivery is free when the item subtotal is over £50.

These are dispatch estimates, not guaranteed arrival dates. We will contact you if we become aware of a material delay. Unless a different period is agreed, goods will be delivered within the period required by law.

Lost or damaged deliveries

If an order appears lost or arrives damaged, contact us with your order number and any relevant photographs. We will investigate with the carrier and resolve the matter in accordance with our legal obligations. You do not lose your consumer rights because a carrier is involved.

Restoration postage

You are responsible for safely packaging and sending your shirt to us. We recommend a tracked service, particularly for valuable or vintage items. Return postage is included in the total restoration quote agreed before work begins. We will confirm the full price, including return delivery, before you send your shirt.

05

Buying shirts from customers

Use the Sell Your Shirts form to tell us about the shirt, your asking price and its condition, and upload clear photographs if possible. We use these details to decide whether we would like to discuss buying it. Submitting an enquiry is not an offer from us and does not commit you to sell.

If we are interested, we will contact you to discuss the shirt and any proposed price or next steps. Any offer is subject to inspection and confirmation of the shirt’s identity, authenticity, condition and ownership. No purchase is agreed until both parties have clearly agreed the terms, including price and the arrangements for getting the shirt to us.

Please only submit shirts you own or are authorised to sell. Tell us honestly about known faults, alterations, repairs and authenticity concerns. Do not post a shirt unless we have agreed the next steps with you. We will explain any agreed postage or return arrangements before you send it.

We may decline to make an offer, or revise or withdraw a provisional offer if an inspection reveals material differences from the information or photographs supplied. If a shirt is not accepted, we will discuss return arrangements with you before taking further action.

06

Restoration terms

Assessment, price and approval

Every shirt is assessed before work begins. Published “from” prices are starting prices, not a guarantee of the final price. We will confirm the proposed work and total price with you before work begins. Please do not post your shirt until we have assessed your enquiry and confirmed the next steps.

Results and risks

Results depend on the shirt’s fabric, age, previous treatment, adhesive, print material and existing damage. We cannot guarantee that every mark, stain, adhesive trace or sign of wear can be removed. Vintage, rare, fragile or heavily worn shirts may carry additional risk. We will discuss significant risks we identify and may decline work where we consider the risk unreasonable.

Changes, extra work and timing

If we identify additional work or a change that affects the agreed price, we will contact you for approval before proceeding. Completion estimates depend on the service, shirt condition and current workload and are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Cancellation of restoration services

Contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel a restoration booking. Where the contract is made at a distance, statutory cancellation rights may apply. If you ask us to begin work during a cancellation period, we will obtain any consent or acknowledgement required by law; if you then cancel after work has started, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for work already performed where the law permits. A right to cancel may end after a service is fully performed only where the legal conditions for that exception have been met. We will explain any relevant terms before work starts.

Pre-existing damage and responsibility

We record and assess the shirt’s condition as part of the process. We are not responsible for defects or deterioration that existed before work began or for outcomes inherent in the disclosed condition of the garment. This does not exclude responsibility for damage caused by our negligence, breach of contract or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you believe damage has occurred during our work, contact us with details and photographs so we can investigate and propose an appropriate resolution.

Payment and return

Our current process is to send photographs of completed work and issue an invoice once you have confirmed you are happy with the result. Payment is due in accordance with the invoice and the arrangements confirmed for your booking. Return of the shirt will then be arranged.

07

Customer-supplied namesets, sponsors & patches

We inspect customer-supplied materials before application and will discuss apparent suitability issues with you where possible. Application charges cover the agreed service only; they do not certify that supplied items are authentic or suitable.

Older materials can be brittle, weakened, previously applied or affected by storage and age. We will discuss material risks that we identify. If a supplied item is damaged directly because of an application error by us, we will assess the circumstances and seek a fair resolution, including reasonable replacement costs where appropriate. We cannot guarantee against failure caused by the material’s existing condition, age, construction or quality. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
